Celebrate with us! It is Brain Awareness Week 2021
Brain Awareness Week began in 1996 in the United States as an effort to bring together diverse groups interested in brain health with a goal to promote the value of brain research for treatment, prevention and possible cures. This global education initiative led by the Dana Foundation now has 7,300 partnerships in 117 countries. The Dana Foundation (www.dana.org) is a private philanthropic organization dedicated to advancing the understanding of the brain and has an excellent website celebrating Brain Awareness Week with interesting articles and engaging activities. DMCBH presents the Annual Distinguished Neuroethics Lecture with Dr. Nir Lipsman (neurosurgeon and scientist) from the University of Toronto titled "Hacking the mind: how technology is changing the way we view our brain and ourselves” on March 16 from 4:00-5:00pm. The BC Brain Wellness Program launches registration for the spring classes on March 15/21 with classes beginning on March 29/21. With over 26 classes to choose from, all classes are free but do require registration. Check out www.bcbrainwellness.ca for details. There is something for everyone!
