Our Stories
Brain Wellness has shown me that a balanced, integrated approach is what is needed to sustain proper health over the long term. [The program] has given me new vigour, a new outlook, a new chance to interact with the community, increased cognitive power—a new lease on life really; and for that, I will be eternally grateful to everyone in the program.

Excellent caliber classes… instructors are so good making you feel part of a class… you get feedback and you feel like you are a part of something… the reason I’m not in a wheelchair is because I’m doing these classes… they have had a major impact in terms of my mobility.

I’ve gone from zero to hero with this exercise program… I’ve been inspired to pick up my Nordic walking poles… I joined the Surrey trekking group… I have become so motivated… my mental and emotional outlook has improved.

I have been exercising with the BC Brain Wellness Program for approximately 2 years now, most often 5 days a week. I was able to start driving again last year after 6 years without, and more recently have returned to tennis and golf after approximately 20 years without. In addition I have a much-improved mood and more confidence. The program is literally a game changer.

Receiving a diagnosis may make us feel separated from our social groups and we begin a journey of feeling alone, [the program] has really allowed me to have a lived experience of community.

Exercise initially changed my life in my early 30s… it had improved my mood and allowed me to continue with my education and find work that I can really blossom in… this particular class has been great and these instructors are the best I’ve ever had. The way they provide exact instruction on which muscles to use. I’m more agile, I’m stronger, my mood has improved… overall I think they’re fantastic.

[The program] may take some pressure off of families when they know we are engaged in healthy activities that we are assuming responsibilities for, and there are other people supporting the people that are so dear to them.
