Megan Walker-Straight
Instructor - Think, Feel, Dance
Megan has been teaching Contemporary Dance in the School for Contemporary Arts at Simon Fraser University since 2000. She danced professionally in NYC for many years, most notably with the renowned Merce Cunningham Dance Company. In 2013 she was named a Cunningham Fellow by the Merce Cunningham Trust and has restaged his dances in both NYC and Vancouver. She holds a BA in Dance from the University of California, Berkeley and trained in the University of New York Hunter College Dance Therapy Masters Program and at the Helix Institute for Psychotherapy and Spiritual Healing in NYC. In 2015 Megan began her involvement with Dance for Parkinson’s and was a 2015-2018 recipient of the Wertheimer Fellowship for in depth study and training by the New York based Brooklyn Dance for Parkinson’s Group / Mark Morris Dance Group. Currently she is teaching these dance classes in the Lower Mainland as well as most recently on Zoom.
