I was born and lived in Berlin (West) where I also did my studies at the Free Berlin in Political Science and Kinesiology to become a teacher. A few years after The Wall came down my partner and I decided to  make use of an opportunity offered by the German Academic Exchange Service and went to Toronto for a few years. It was there, when a first decisive moment in my life occurred: my, at the time 18 months old son, was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes. My life changed fundamentally. My life changed again a few years later when my son was diagnosed with autism. Now I had to organize the life of my daughter, my often travelling husband and my son. It was very challenging.

I went back to my artistry past and at the same time started volunteering in groups of disadvantaged individuals. A few years after moving to Vancouver I also was diagnosed with Diabetes Type I, another change in my life. Focusing on my art and on my dance ( I received a dance education during my years at the FU Berlin) became critical in keeping up my spirits and caring for my family. My engagement in various groups as participant (BWP, Community Dance) and also as teacher learned me that helping myself with meaningful activities can also help others.
