A Poem to honour caregivers

By Lydia Drasic

November is National Family Caregiver Month - and to honour caregivers, here is a poem written during the class - Express Yourself: Writing as a tool to cope and thrive as a caregiver.

Day Ending

It’s time to put the day to bed

Calming all thoughts in my head

Sitting all cozy with that last cup of tea

This time is mine and all about me!

Hearing music softly in the background

Guitar strings such a soothing sound.

Watching the sunset colours dance on the canvas sky

Brush strokes of blue, pink and purple streak on by

Sinking into the beauty – what an incredible sight,

Light dimming, darkening – moon and stars welcoming the night.

Reflecting, breathing – slowly in and out

Ah-h! This is what ending my day is all about.
