Take care of yourself by taking care of someone else

Looking for something meaningful to do to combat the challenges of the winter months? Consider joining a group of likeminded people and craft for a cause! Members of the Brain Wellness Program Craft Circle are combining their efforts to make comfort mitts for people living with dementia.

Comfort mitts are known to help reduce anxiety and agitation and can be knit, crocheted or sewn. They are made out of anything that is soft, colourful, interesting and safe and, as their name implies, are intended to provide comfort to whoever is wearing them.

A PATTERN FOR A KNIT VERSION IS INCLUDED HERE.

If you do not knit, crochet or sew, you can still join the group and create cards to attach to the comfort mitts or decorate a bag that will be delivered along with the comfort mitts…the options are endless!  The mitts will be donated to Vancouver General Hospital where they have a program in place to get the mitts into the hands of people who could use them!

If you have any questions or would like to be involved, send an email to Elaine Book at elaine.book@vch.ca.

You can also sign up for the Brain Wellness Program’s Craft Circle by visiting this page on our website.
